BIOGRAPHY
My name is Caleb Whiting. As an artist, I prefer to go by just "Whiting". I am a 17 year old musician who raps and plays acoustic guitar. There is a story behind my love for music.
When I was 15 years of age, my friend brought his guitar camping with us. I was actually never interested in playing an instrument, but I decided I wanted to learn something new. He taught me the first 3 basic chords. This moment is when I decided I really enjoyed playing music! I saved up to buy my first guitar, which was an $80 Epiphone acoustic off Craigslist. I started learning to play by watching videos off youtube, until I got to the point where I would try to come up with techniques that nobody had seen before. I would drum on the acoustic, experiment on tapping with both hands on the neck, and I even tried singing. The singing ordeal was NOT happening.
So I continued playing guitar as just a hobby until October 28th, 2014.
Months prior to this date, I was becoming a different person. I was dishonest, I got into stuff I should not have, and my level of compassion towards people was at its lowest. This is what happens when you stray away from God for your own desires.
So in October, I was dealing with an insane amount of conviction. I was starting to see the path I was running down. I took a day off of school and went to the skatepark by myself. While I was there, I fell and knocked myself out. I woke up and complained about a pain inside my chest. I was life flighted to the hospital, where they found out I had ruptured my spleen. It was a matter of minutes before I bled out and passed away.
However, through all this, I could feel God at my side all the time. I even heard him speak to me. This is what I heard: "Caleb. I love you. You will change your ways and follow me. Then you will go out into the world, and play music."
It all came to me that I am alive for a reason. I played guitar in my hospital bed, and was eager to fix myself and listen to the command to play music. I was given the ability to understand music through a different perspective. You see, it's not me playing guitar or rapping. It is our heavenly Father playing through me.
Now I have an unbelievable wanting to play music. This is what I do, and I will not stop until I accomplish my mission. My name is Caleb Whiting, and I am unashamed.
